Nollywood actor Godwin Nnadiekwe was hospitalised on Saturday following internal bleeding caused by an accidental kick from fellow actor Zubby Michael on set.
According to the report, the incident happened during filming, leading to Nnadiekwe’s sudden admission to hospital for urgent medical care.
His management issued an official statement confirming the actor’s condition and the circumstances surrounding the accident.
“We regret to inform you that Actor Godwin Nnadiekwe was rushed to the hospital this evening. He is undergoing treatment for internal bleeding following an incident involving a kick on the chest during filming with his colleague Zubby Michael,” the statement read.
The management reassured fans that they are providing the best possible care and promised timely updates on his health status.
“We appreciate your concern and well wishes for Godwin at this time. Keep Godwin in your thoughts,” they added.
This announcement came a day after Nnadiekwe shared his personal account of the injury on Instagram.
He explained that the kick was neither scripted nor directed during the scene, which did not require physical contact.
He wrote, “This isn’t to call anyone out, but it’s a serious reminder that we need to prioritise each other’s safety on set.”
The actor detailed how the kick caused him serious pain and required medication to manage.
Nnadiekwe expressed disappointment over the absence of immediate medical assistance or safety protocols on set during the accident.
He stressed the urgent need for Nollywood productions to adopt structured insurance policies and have first aid readily available at filming locations.
“When we’re working without insurance policies or readily available first aid, unexpected physical actions like this, even if accidental, can have real consequences,” he stated.
He further emphasized that all physical scenes must be intentional, rehearsed, and supervised carefully to avoid accidents with potentially life-threatening outcomes.
“What if something more serious had happened? Or this went south?” Nnadiekwe asked.
His concerns have sparked calls within the industry to improve safety standards and actor protections during filming.
The incident has generated widespread reactions on social media platforms. Fans, fellow actors, and industry stakeholders have expressed their support for Nnadiekwe. Many commenters urged Nollywood producers to implement stronger safety protocols.
Many echoed the actor’s call for improved measures to prevent similar accidents in the future. There is growing recognition of the need for accountability and better care for artists on set.
They argue that the case of Actor Godwin Nnadiekwe Hospitalised highlights the dangers of inadequate safety planning during film production.
As Nollywood continues to gain international recognition, industry leaders face pressure to improve conditions behind the scenes. And without a doubt, actor Godwin Nnadiekwe Hospitalised serves as a timely reminder of these ongoing challenges.
