DSS arrests bandit in Sokoto, a few hours after another was arrested at a Hajj camp in Abuja
The operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS) have arrested a notorious bandit attempting to leave Nigeria for the Hajj. The suspected criminal was apprehended at the popular Sultan Abubakar International Airport, Sokoto.
The bandit, identified as Sani Galadi, was arrested by men of the secret police at about 11.15 am on Monday. It was gathered that he was captured while waiting to be screened at the airport.
A source familiar with the development revealed that the intelligence officers secretly trailed him to the airport and got hold of him at the Hajj terminal.
According to a report by Politics Nigeria, Galadi is a notorious kidnapper who operates mainly in Kogi and Abuja. He has reportedly masterminded many kidnapped operations but decided to take a break by visiting the only land.
“Yes, one Galadi was arrested today at the terminal when undergoing final screening before departure for Saudi Arabia.
“What I know is that Galadi has been taken into custody, and he’s providing necessary answers to questions. He will have his day in Court when the investigation is completed,” the security source revealed.
It should be noted that Galadi’s arrest happened just a few hours after two high-profile suspected kidnap kingpins were arrested.
Security sources disclosed that the suspected kidnappers had been on SSS’ radar for over a year. The sources added that screening at Hajj camps in different parts of the country offered the operatives the opportunity to arrest them.
Meanwhile, despite the efforts of the security operatives to get rid of criminal elements, many deadly attacks were reported across the country in recent days.
