Former Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode has mocked Peter Obi over an incident which happened at the Pope’s inauguration. Obi, a presidential candidate of the Labour Party during the last general election, was allegedly bounced by Vatican security. The former Anambra Governor was stormed while trying to get to the VVIP section during Pope Leo XIV’s inauguration.

In the video, which has gone viral, Obi was seen with Cardinal Francis Arinze talking with Vatican security personnel while other prominent invitees were going inside the VVIP section. It was reported that the former Governor did not have the required invitation pass, so he was stopped by security operatives.

Commenting about the incident, Fani-Kayode mocked Peter Obi in a post on his X handle. The former Minister said Obi was ‘beautifully bounced’ until President Bola Tinubu came to his rescue.

He said: “Despite Cardinal Arinze’s noble efforts it appears that @PeterObi was not allowed in to see the Pope. He was beautifully bounced until @officialABAT put in a word for him and he was later allowed in to pay homage.

“Even then he was not allowed anywhere near the Pope and instead went and paid homage to our President. Obidients take note: only go where you are accepted and appreciated and not where you are tolerated,” he added.

Meanwhile, it should be noted that Fani –Kayode earlier commended the Vatican for inviting President Tinubu to the event. He described the gesture as the first ever witnessed in Nigeria’s history. According to him, no President or Head of State has ever been given such opportunity before

“This is the first time in our country’s history that a sitting President or Head of State has attended the inaugural mass of a new Pope.

“Surely there can be no greater expression of religious tolerance, mutual respect and bridge-building than this. It is a warm gesture that we can all be proud of,” he said.
