Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have been drawn into Group F for the FIFA U-20 World Cup. They will battle with Colombia, Saudi Arabia, and Norway to make it out of the group stage.

Note that the tournament will take place in Chile later this year. As expected, the official draw occurred at the Machasa studios of Chilevisión in Santiago. Chilean broadcaster Javiera Naranjo hosted the ceremony. FIFA’s Director of Tournaments, Jaime Yarza, led the event, and former Argentina captain Juan Sorín also participated in the draw.

Nigeria is among the four African teams to qualify for the FIFA U-20 World Cup. The others in Group E are South Africa, in Group C, and Egypt, in Group A.

They will represent Africa in the tournament that runs from September 27 to October 19, 2025.

According to the report, matches will take place in four Chilean cities: Santiago, Rancagua, Valparaíso, and Talca. Chile last hosted the competition in 1987. Back then, it was called the FIFA World Youth Championship.

In the 1987 edition, Yugoslavia won the title. They beat West Germany in a penalty shootout.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have yet to win the FIFA U-20 World Cup. They have, however, finished as runners-up twice. The first time was in 1989, when Portugal defeated us in the final. The second was in 2005, when Lionel Messi’s Argentina side beat them.

The Flying Eagles currently hold the WAFU B championship. They also secured third place at the 2023 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.

As expected, Coach Aliyu Zubairu will lead the team into this challenging group. They will face Colombia, a strong opponent with physical and technical prowess. Also, Norway is emerging as a tough European competitor with tactical discipline, while Saudi Arabia, Asia’s representative, is known for speed and solid organisation.

This group promises intense competition in the FIFA U-20 World Cup. Nigeria will face tough tests against skilled opponents. The team, however, aims to perform very well and win their first title.

The Flying Eagles could emerge as champions, particularly as they have shown consistent progress in recent years. So, their blend of experience and talent could be decisive.

Meanwhile, Chile’s hosting of the tournament highlights South America’s passion for youth football. The four selected cities provide modern venues for high-profile matches.

Fans worldwide are closely following the event. Like before, this year’s edition of the FIFA U-20 World Cup will feature emerging talents from all continents.

In another News, many European clubs are in the race for the signature of Victor Osimhen. The Super Eagles striker is one of the most prolific strikers in the world at the moment.
